It is with great sadness that we announce that Armen Bablanian, a long-time parishioner of St. Yeghiche Armenian Church, passed away on 17th November 2024, after a prolonged illness.
Armen served as an elected member of St Yeghiche Armenian Church Parish Council until his health deteriorated.
Born in Kirkuk, Iraq, in 1952, Armen moved to London in the early 1980’s where he took on a position at Peabody Trust, working for over 25 years before he retired. He was devoted to his family and is survived by his wife, Sonia; his children Shant (Lilit) Bablanian, and Ani (Alex) Albert; his beloved grandchildren Thor Alexander Albert, Theo Albert, and Hayk Bablanian; his brother John Bablanian and sister Anita (George) Hayek; brothers-in-law Vanakan (Nadia) Dickranian and Rouben Dickranian; sister-in-law Silva (Greg) Bedian; nephews Alex Hayek, Arshag Dickranian, Varant Dickranian, Garin (Arpi) Bedian, and Daron Bedian; nieces Sarelle (Emre) Hayek, Celine (Jeff) Hayek, and Knar Bedian; grandnephews Luka Demokan and Leo Boyd; and grandnieces Sofia Demokan and Ada Boyd.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Thursday, 12 December 2024, at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Gunnersbury Cemetery in Acton, followed by internment. A memorial dinner will follow at Navasartian Centre, 223 Northfield Avenue, Ealing W13 9QU.
